Other substances (medications, RCs, etc)

Occasionally, a helpee will request help for a situation involving prescription or over-the-counter medications that you may not be familiar with and for which we don’t have much information available in our factsheet database or wiki. Please do your best to gather information and pass it along to the helpee in these instances.

If someone appears to be having an adverse reaction to the medication, it is always best to encourage them to speak with their doctor. If their symptoms appear life-threatening, they should call EMS or poison control.

Be mindful that some supplements can have dangerous interactions with drugs. St John’s Wort and 5-HTP are just two supplements that can be potentially dangerous when combined with serotonergic substances.
